The Central Urban Work Conference held recently proposed to focus on enhancing the comprehensive carrying capacity of cities for population and economic and social development, developing modern urban clusters and metropolitan areas in the form of clusters and networks. This important deployment clarifies the train of thought for the development of urban clusters and metropolitan areas in the next stage: optimizing urban spatial structure, breaking through the "pie-sharing" style of traditional development that brings about "big city problems", coordinating and taking into account various needs such as economic, living, ecological, and security, achieving infrastructure interconnection and mutual support, shared construction of public services, free flow of factors and resources, and coordinated linkage of governance mechanisms on a larger scale, thereby enhancing the comprehensive carrying capacity of cities.
