Jiangsu Province solicits opinions from the public on new residential design standards, with the requirement that the indoor floor height of new commercial residential buildings should not be less than 3.1 meters.
The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development recently released the newly revised "Residential Design Standards", which stipulate that the floor height of newly-built commercial residential buildings should not be less than 3.1 meters, and solicited opinions from the public. Previously, the relevant regulations required the floor height of ordinary residential buildings to be no less than 2.80 meters and no more than 3.00 meters; for residential buildings equipped with household central air conditioning and central fresh air or floor heating systems, the floor height should not exceed 3.60 meters. The "Draft for Soliciting Opinions" proposes that the floor height of newly-built commercial residential buildings should not be less than 3.1 meters, and the floor height of other residential buildings such as affordable housing should not be less than 3.0 meters. For residential buildings with four floors or more, the floor height should not exceed 3.6 meters; for residential buildings equipped with floor heating, ducted fresh air, or centralized central air conditioning systems, the floor height should not be less than 3.15 meters. The net height of bedrooms and living rooms should not be less than 2.60 meters, and the net height of certain areas should not be less than 2.20 meters. Additionally, the area with a net height lower than 2.60 meters should not exceed one-third of the indoor usable area.
