According to a new policy that took effect on July 22nd local time, Chinese citizens holding US or EU visas do not need an Argentine visa to enter Argentina for tourism or business activities. Previously, all Chinese citizens were required to meet all visa requirements in Argentina. The South China Morning Post reported on July 22nd that Argentine President Milae is readjusting his foreign policy in the midst of stalled trade negotiations with the US, and the country's announcement of relaxing visa requirements for Chinese citizens is the latest gesture of goodwill towards China, highlighting a broad shift in Milae's policy towards China. Previously, the US had also expressed increasing unease about the warming relations between Argentina and China. In addition to the visa policy, another significant development in the current China-Argentina relationship is that two large hydroelectric projects in the southern province of Santa Cruz, Argentina have resumed construction.
