Hong Kong plans to streamline the application procedures for Guangdong vehicles heading south.
On July 21st, the reporter learned from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Transport and Logistics Bureau that on the 18th, four amended regulations related to the application for cross-border vehicle permits were published. The aim is to provide better convenience for cross-border vehicles and optimize the arrangements for closed road permits and international transit permits. A spokesperson for the Hong Kong SAR Government's Transport and Logistics Bureau stated that with the increasing frequency of transportation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, the government has been actively improving the related permit services of the Transport Department to facilitate drivers and effectively respond to the growing demand for cross-border travel. "The amended regulations will optimize the application procedures and requirements. We expect that it will reduce and streamline the procedures for applicants or holders of regular quota plans, 'Hong Kong cars going north,' and the recently announced 'Guangdong cars going south,' making it more convenient for them."
