On July 21st, the domestic TDI market continued to rise to a high level. According to Baichuan Yingfu News, as of noon on the 21st, the average price of TDI in the domestic market was 15,900 yuan/ton, an increase of 1,012 yuan/ton from the previous working day, an increase of 6.79%. Up to now, the domestic TDI price has risen for five consecutive working days, with an increase of about 23% year-on-year and about 20% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, related stocks have recently experienced a significant increase. The recent rise in TDI prices is due to a sharp reduction in global production capacity caused by accidents in overseas chemical giants. On July 16th, Covestro announced that products such as TDI in the Dormagen chemical park in Germany had encountered force majeure factors due to a fire causing electrical supply and control system failures. This affected the production of caustic soda, chlorine, and hydrochloric acid, and also impacted the TDI plant with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons. This incident has become the catalyst for igniting the global TDI market, and the price of this product has been on the rise in recent days.
