According to sources, the French electricity company is considering selling around 50% of its North American renewable energy business, with the deal potentially worth around 2 billion euros. Sources say that this move will help the state-owned utility company raise funds for the massive investments in new reactors in the country, and discussions on the matter are still ongoing. It is currently uncertain whether this will lead to a deal, and the French electricity company may choose to sell a larger stake based on the offers received. Bernard Fontana, who took over as CEO of the company in May, stated that the company may sell assets and will prioritize investments in nuclear power, grid, and renewable energy projects in France to help reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels. French President Emmanuel Macron has instructed Fontana to start the construction of at least 6 new reactors, which will cost hundreds of billions of euros over the next decade.
