Indonesian President talks about Indo-US tariff negotiations: Trump is a "tough negotiator"
On July 16th local time, Indonesian President Joko Widodo made a statement regarding the tariff negotiations between Indonesia and the United States, stating that he has communicated with President Trump on the relevant issues. Widodo described Trump as a "tough negotiator", but Indonesia remains optimistic about the prospects of bilateral economic and trade negotiations. Widodo also confirmed that the Indonesian national airline will purchase a new batch of Boeing aircraft. He pointed out that Indonesia still heavily relies on imports in the energy and agriculture sectors, including fuel, natural gas, wheat, and soybeans, which could be important topics in future bilateral trade negotiations. Regarding plans to visit the United States, Widodo mentioned that he may travel to Washington in September or October this year, emphasizing that tariff issues will be one of the main topics of discussion during the visit.
