On July 15th, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lin Jian, presided over a routine press conference. A journalist from Agence France-Presse asked about Japan's statement that China's military activities in the region could seriously affect Japan's national security. What is China's response to this? Lin Jian said, "I believe you are referring to Japan's recently released new Defense White Paper." The new version of Japan's Defense White Paper holds a mistaken view of China, unreasonably interferes in China's internal affairs, and exaggerates the so-called "China threat." China strongly protests and firmly opposes this, and has lodged a stern representation with Japan. Lin Jian emphasized that Taiwan is an inseparable part of Chinese territory, and the Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair. How to solve the Taiwan issue is a matter for the Chinese people themselves. China adheres to the path of peaceful development, pursues a defensive national defense policy, and its defense construction and military activities are legitimate and reasonable, in line with international law and norms. Lin Jian pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Chinese people's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. We urge Japan to deeply reflect on its historical responsibilities, earnestly learn from historical lessons, and stop using the so-called "tensions in the region" and issues related to China as excuses for its own military expansion, in order to avoid further losing credibility in Asian neighboring countries and the international community.
