Trump: Ukraine should not consider Moscow as a target to attack.
On the 15th, President Trump said during an interview with media reporters on the South Lawn of the White House that Ukraine should not target Moscow, the capital of Russia. Earlier reports suggested that Trump had encouraged Ukrainian President Zelensky to use long-range weapons to attack Moscow. According to NBC, Trump was asked if he believed Ukraine should target Moscow, to which he stated that they should not. When asked if the US would provide long-range missiles to Ukraine, Trump replied, "No, we will not do that." The Financial Times reported on the 15th that during a recent call with Zelensky, Trump had urged Ukraine to increase attacks on Russian territory and even asked if Ukraine could target Moscow and the second largest city of Russia, St. Petersburg, with the help of US-supplied long-range weapons. A White House spokesperson later denied this report, stating that the Financial Times had taken the statement out of context. When asked if he was on Ukraine's side, Trump said, "I am not on anyone's side." He also stated that Russian President Putin should agree to a ceasefire within the "final 50 days" or face sanctions.
