The Shanghai Municipal Social and Economic Index for the second quarter of 2025 has been released, and consumer confidence remains in the optimistic range.
On July 15th, the Shanghai Social Survey Research Center, the Shanghai Finance Center of the University of Shanghai and the Applied Statistics Research Center of the University of Finance and Economics of Shanghai released the "Shanghai Economic and Social Index Series for the Second Quarter of 2025," which includes the Shanghai Consumer Confidence Index and the Shanghai Investor Confidence Index for the second quarter of 2025. The Shanghai Consumer Confidence Index includes two core indices and 8 classification indices, while the Shanghai Investor Confidence Index includes four core indices and 17 classification indices. According to the latest survey results from the Shanghai Social Survey Research Center, the Shanghai Finance Center of the University of Shanghai, and the Applied Statistics Research Center of the University of Finance and Economics of Shanghai, the Shanghai Consumer Confidence Index for the second quarter of 2025 is 105.4 points. Overall, this quarter shows a decline in major indices compared to the previous quarter, with consumers expressing slightly lower satisfaction with Shanghai's economy this quarter. However, the index remains in the optimistic range.
