Situation report: On July 8, 2025, our monitoring in the region discovered a local outbreak of Chikungunya fever caused by an overseas importation. The municipal authorities at all levels attached great importance to this situation and immediately organized professional teams to carry out prevention and control work. As of July 15, a total of 478 confirmed cases have been reported in the region, mainly concentrated in Lecong Town, Beijiao Town, and Chencun Town, all of which are mild cases. Chikungunya fever is an acute infectious disease caused by the Chikungunya virus, with clinical symptoms mainly including fever, rash, and joint pain. This disease is similar to dengue fever, mainly transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes (commonly known as striped mosquitoes) and can be prevented by measures such as clearing breeding sites and killing mosquitoes to block the transmission pathway. Currently, with the hot and rainy season, mosquitoes are active and we are entering a high incidence period of mosquito-borne infectious diseases such as dengue fever and Chikungunya fever. Therefore, we remind the general public to enhance their awareness of prevention and control, regularly overturn pots and containers, clear stagnant water, and remove debris to eliminate mosquito breeding environments at the source; strengthen personal and household mosquito prevention measures to prevent mosquito bites; if you experience similar symptoms, please seek medical attention promptly and proactively inform your travel history and mosquito bite history. Let us take joint action to implement various prevention and control measures to confront the challenge of mosquito-borne infectious diseases and safeguard our healthy homes.
