The M5 chip for the iPad Pro is expected to be released in October, while the update for the MacBook Pro processor has been delayed.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman confirmed that Apple will switch to the M5 chip for its iPad Pro as early as October this year. In comparison, the current M4 model iPad Pro was released in May 2024. Since Apple has made significant design improvements to the M4 iPad Pro, it means that this year's M5 iPad Pro will mainly focus on routine processor upgrades, with some minor updates. Although previous reports indicated that Apple will also switch to the M5 chip for the MacBook Pro this year, Gurman believes that the corresponding model will be delayed due to Apple "reassessing its roadmap." Similarly, this model will mainly feature routine processor upgrades with some minor improvements. Based on previous predictions from Gurman, Omdia, and others, the M6 chip MacBook Pro is expected to have a redesigned model, introducing the same series of OLED panels and a "hole-punch screen + narrow notch" as the iPad Pro.
