On July 9, Zheng Zhajie, Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, stated at the first press conference on "High-Quality Completion of the 'Fourteenth Five-Year Plan'" held by the State Council Information Office that China's research and development investment has reached a new high. By 2024, the total research and development expenditure of the whole society will increase by nearly 50% compared to the end of the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan", reaching an increment of 1.2 trillion yuan; the intensity of research and development investment will increase to 2.68%, approaching the average level of OECD countries.
