National Bureau of Statistics Interpretation: CPI in June turned from a decline to an increase year-on-year, while core CPI continued to rise.

According to the Wise Finance APP, on July 9th, Dong Lijuan, Chief Statistician of the Urban Department of the National Bureau of Statistics, interpreted the CPI and PPI data for June 2025. In June, the policies to expand domestic demand and promote consumption continued to take effect, with the consumer price index (CPI) for residents rising by 0.1% compared to the previous month, after a decrease; it decreased by 0.1% on a month-on-month basis, with a narrowing decrease of 0.1 percentage point compared to the previous month. The core CPI, which excludes food and energy prices, continued to rise by 0.7% year-on-year. The producer price index (PPI) decreased by 0.4% compared to the previous month, with the same decrease as the previous month; it decreased by 3.6% year-on-year, with an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month.
