In order to further deepen cooperation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, the Shenzhen Maritime Safety Administration and the Shenzhen Qianhai Management Bureau jointly released the "Safety Inspection Guide for Methanol Fueling Operations in Shenzhen-Hong Kong". This guide has been supported by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Maritime Department and has been simultaneously released in Hong Kong as a reference technical guide, providing specific operational standards for methanol fueling operations in the waters of Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The guide will effectively promote cooperation in the area of ship fueling with green fuels and lay a solid foundation for Shenzhen and Hong Kong to jointly build a global ship fueling center for green fuels. It is reported that in the face of global climate change challenges, the global shipping industry is actively promoting green transformation, seeking sustainable alternative fuels. Orders for methanol-powered vessels are growing explosively, with approximately 25% of the 285 newly built alternative fuel vessels to be delivered by 2025 already adopting methanol fuel. The capacity for green fuel refueling has become an important indicator for measuring the international competitiveness of ports. In recent years, Shenzhen and Hong Kong have continuously made breakthroughs in coordinating the refueling of ships with green fuels, with both cities having achieved LNG refueling for ships and now focusing on developing methanol refueling.
