Large-scale power outages occurred in many parts of the Czech Republic, leading to the suspension of tram services and several people being trapped in elevators.
On July 4th local time, there were widespread power outages in various parts of the Czech Republic. Firefighters were rushing to rescue people trapped in elevators in multiple locations. In the capital city of Prague, tram and trolley services were completely suspended, while the subway lines had partially resumed after repair work. Technicians are investigating the cause of the incident, which is still unclear. Czech Minister of the Interior Jan Hamek stated that the national crisis response command had been put on alert, and the Ministry of the Interior was investigating the extent of the power outages. At present, there is no evidence to suggest that this was caused by a cyber or terrorist attack, but patrols have been increased in the affected areas. Minister of Health Adam Vojtch reassured that patient care in hospitals had not been affected, as emergency generators had been promptly activated.
