WeChat has optimized the chat history backup function, supporting "automatic backup".

On July 4th, Tencent announced a major update for WeChat - optimizing chat record backups. After the optimization, users can backup their phone chat records to external storage devices. Chat records can also be set to "automatically backup". If it has been more than 24 hours since the last backup, simply connecting the phone to an external storage device will trigger the backup. Tencent emphasizes that the backed up chat records are encrypted to ensure privacy is not compromised; multiple people can use the same storage device without the risk of cross-talk or leaks. The optimized chat record backup function is still in the testing phase and is expanding its testing scope.
