Chengdu initiates flood prevention level III emergency response, several scenic spots implement temporary restrictions and tourist cruises halt operations.
On July 3rd at 17:10, the Chengdu Meteorological Observatory issued a red alert for heavy rain. According to the "Chengdu Flood Control and Drought Relief Emergency Plan", the city's flood control and drought relief headquarters has decided to activate a level three flood control emergency response starting from 18:00 on July 3, 2025. According to the monitoring data of the Sichuan Provincial Meteorological Bureau, heavy rainfall is mainly concentrated in the western part of the basin starting from 4 p.m. today, with the rainfall center located in the urban area of Chengdu. The accumulated rainfall in Chengdu urban area has reached 273.9mm, exceeding the level of torrential rain in four hours. Several attractions including the Chengdu Jintai Mountain scenic area, Baihetan National Wetland Park, Jiezizhen, Yuantongzhen, Huashuiwanzhen in Dayi County, and Xilingzhen have implemented temporary controls to restrict tourists and other outsiders from entering dangerous areas. The Jinjiang cruise project will be temporarily suspended for one day on July 3, 2025.
