The number of initial jobless claims in the United States last week fell to a six-week low.
The US Department of Labor announced on Thursday that the seasonally adjusted initial claims for unemployment benefits fell by 4,000 to 233,000 people in the week ending June 28, reaching a six-week low since mid-May and lower than the economists' forecast of 240,000 people. However, the total number of continued claims for unemployment benefits as of the week ending June 21 remained high at 1.964 million people, the highest level since the fall of 2021.
