On the afternoon of July 3rd, local time, the Israel Defense Forces announced that Major General Itzik Cohen has officially taken over as the head of the IDF Operations Directorate. Itzik Cohen, born in 1977, has previously served as the commanding officer of several brigades in the IDF, including the famous Givati Infantry Brigade and the Sinai Division (162nd Armored Division). In March 2025, Cohen's predecessor, Aviv Kochavi, announced his retirement due to age reasons.
