Information from the Chinese supply chain shows that Tesla is currently concentrating on adjusting the hardware and software technology details of the humanoid robot Optimus, and started suspending the purchase of Optimus components about half a month ago. Two sources from suppliers said that Tesla has not explicitly stated that they will reduce orders for robot parts, but they will wait until the Optimus redesign is completed before determining a new production plan and restarting purchases, which may take up to 2 months. Musk recently mentioned on social media that the performance of the new version of Optimus is significantly improved compared to the second generation Optimus, which will be unveiled by Tesla in 2023, and it also includes voice interaction supported by Grok. It is understood that as of the end of May this year, Tesla has purchased enough parts to produce 1200 Optimus robots and has produced nearly 1000. Musk had previously promised to produce 5000 this year. Both of the aforementioned sources believe that with the interruption of parts purchases, this goal is unlikely to be achieved. (latepost)
