The Ministry of Natural Resources has listed for supervision the illegal use of land in the Xingmao International Tourism Resort project in Lai'an County, Anhui Province.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources decided to supervise and oversee the illegal use of land in the Xingmao International Tourism Resort project in Lai'an County, Anhui Province. A notice was issued to the Anhui Provincial Department of Natural Resources to supervise and oversee the project, requiring them to organize a comprehensive investigation with relevant departments and propose handling opinions in accordance with the law. After investigation, it was found that the Lai'an County government illegally expropriated 6753.4 acres of land in Haha Town to implement the Xingmao International Tourism Resort project without approval. After obtaining land expropriation approval procedures for some of the land, they sold 687.2 acres of land to Chongqing Xingmao Industrial Development Co., Ltd. for the construction of tourism, residential, and health sectors. From early 2018 to the end of 2020, they occupied 511.5 acres of land without approval, excavated water systems, and built landscape green spaces. Currently, the 511.5 acres of water landscape has been restored, and the illegally expropriated land has been returned to the village collective. During the project implementation, there are suspected issues of illegal land expropriation and occupation, and illegal excavation of farmland to create lakes and landscapes.
