The Shanghai Cyberspace Administration found in a special operation that some websites providing generative artificial intelligence services to the public did not conduct security assessments as required by law, did not take necessary security measures to prevent the generation of illegal information, and did not take restrictive measures to prevent the abuse of generative artificial intelligence functions, leading to violations of personal information rights and interests, the production of illegal content such as "unboxing" and money laundering, and the generation of pornographic and vulgar images, posing significant security risks. The Shanghai Cyberspace Administration has urged companies to voluntarily take down related functions and can only go back online after passing a security assessment. Next, the Shanghai Cyberspace Administration will continue to crack down on the "abuse of AI," focusing on addressing illegal behaviors that infringe upon personal information rights and interests such as "AI disguises," "AI face-swapping and voice-changing," "AI counterfeiting," and personalized algorithm services, and will decisively punish those who do not learn their lesson and have serious problems.
