On June 23 local time, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of the United States stated that Ford Motor Company, headquartered in Michigan, is recalling 197,432 units of the 2021-2025 model year "Ford Mustang" mid-size SUV due to a possible malfunction of the door locks, which could trap rear seat passengers. The US government agency stated that the electronic door locks of these vehicles may remain locked even after the driver or front passenger exits and closes the door, causing children or other passengers unable to use the interior door unlock device to be trapped. Ford dealers will address this issue by updating the vehicle software, with the solution expected to be rolled out by the end of September. The Ford Mustang is Ford's first all-electric SUV.
