When asked about the reaction of the oil market to the attacks on Iran, US Energy Secretary Wright said, "People realize that the situation in the Middle East will eventually calm down and we will be in a more secure, more stable Middle East and world." Wright said he was not surprised by the fall in oil prices: "I don't think the current tense situation will lead to a rise in oil prices. We saw a little bit in the past, but when the US position is clear, I am not surprised at all by the fall in oil prices. The drop may be bigger than I imagined, but I think we are in a good situation today."
