US Energy Secretary: Not Surprised by Drop in Oil Prices

When asked about the reaction of the oil market to the attack on Iran, US Energy Secretary Wright said: "People realize that the situation in the Middle East will eventually calm down, and we will be in a safer and more stable Middle East and world." Wright said he was not surprised by the drop in oil prices: "I do not think the current tension will lead to an increase in oil prices. We saw a bit of that earlier, but when the US position is clear, I am not surprised at all by the decrease in oil prices. The decline may be larger than I imagined, but I believe we are in a good situation today."
