According to reports, the state of New York in the United States plans to build a large nuclear power facility. This will be the first large nuclear power plant built in the United States in 15 years, and it is also a major test of President Trump's commitment to speeding up such projects. The state governor, Kathy Hochul, stated in an interview that she has instructed the state's public power company to increase new nuclear power generation by at least 1 gigawatt in its aging reactors. 1 gigawatt of electricity is roughly enough to power 1 million households. She said, "I will work to ensure that every company that wants to come to New York, as well as every person who wants to live here, never has to worry about reliability and affordability when it comes to electricity costs."
