On the 22nd local time, a wildfire broke out on the eastern part of the Greek island of Chios in the Aegean Sea. Strong winds caused the fire and thick smoke to spread rapidly. As a preventive measure, residents of at least 16 settlements were forcibly evacuated. Some areas of the island also experienced power outages. According to Greek media reports, around 140 firefighters, 70 members of forest firefighting teams, and 15 fire engines are currently working to control the fire. The local fire department has not specified the cause of the fire, and firefighting operations are still ongoing.
