South Korean President Lee Jae-myung opened a staff meeting to discuss responding to the Middle East situation.
According to reports, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung chaired a meeting with his chief secretary and aides on the 23rd regarding the situation in the Middle East, including the US airstrike on Iran's nuclear facilities. He stated that the current situation in the Middle East is very serious, and all government departments, including the presidential office, must establish an emergency response system. Lee Jae-myung emphasized the need to implement safety measures to protect local Korean citizens, and instructed the National Security Office to ensure the safety of Korean nationals and expatriates in the region. He mentioned that the escalating uncertainty in the Middle East has caused turbulence in foreign exchange, financial, and capital markets, and directed relevant departments to take necessary measures promptly and formulate measures to stabilize and control prices to prevent further economic uncertainty. Lee Jae-myung also mentioned that the government's supplementary budget proposal aimed at boosting domestic demand is awaiting submission to the National Assembly, but if necessary, relevant departments should negotiate with the Assembly to include projects to address the Middle East situation in the supplementary budget proposal.
