A prominent advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader has called for missile attacks on US navy vessels and the closure of the strategic Strait of Hormuz, an important oil shipping route. "It's our turn now after the US attacked the Fordo nuclear facility," warned Hossein Shariatmadari, editor-in-chief of the Kayhan newspaper, funded by Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Shariatmadari, a well-known conservative figure who has previously claimed to be a representative of Khamenei, stated in a telegram from Kayhan: "Without hesitation, without delay, as a first step, we must launch missile attacks on the US navy fleet stationed in Bahrain and simultaneously close the Strait of Hormuz to prevent ships from the US, UK, Germany, and France from entering." The message concluded with a verse from the Quran that says: "Kill them wherever you find them." Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei has yet to make a formal response to the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.
