British researchers have recently developed a new type of robot skin made from soft and low-cost gel material, which can simultaneously sense pressure, temperature, and even distinguish between multiple contact points, allowing robots to acquire information about their surroundings in a similar way to humans. In the future, in addition to applications in humanoid robots or human prostheses that require tactile sensing, this robot skin can also be widely used in industries such as automotive manufacturing and post-disaster rescue.
