Google trains its AI with 200 billion YouTube videos.
It is reported that Google is using its extensive YouTube video library to train artificial intelligence models, including Gemini and Veo3 video audio generators. An informant who is not authorized to publicly disclose information revealed that Google is using the resources of the 20 billion YouTube videos on the platform to provide training data for the new generation of AI tools. Google confirmed that it does rely on the YouTube video library to train AI models, but emphasized that only a portion of the content is used and specific agreements with creators and media companies will be followed. Experts point out that this use of YouTube videos may trigger intellectual property crises for creators and media companies. YouTube did not specify how many of the 20 billion videos on the platform or which videos were used for AI training. However, given the scale of the platform, even if only 1% of the video library is used, it still amounts to 23 billion minutes of content.
