Today, it was learned from the General Administration of Market Supervision that in 2024, market supervision departments organized a total of more than 6.7 million batches of food safety supervision and spot checks, and found 58 batches of products with non-edible substances. The main non-conforming items involved were Rhodamine B, boric acid, formaldehyde, etc., and the non-conforming products mainly came from the bulk food and homemade food in the catering operation links. For the 58 batches of non-conforming food, the market supervision departments have all taken action, imposing heavy penalties on the relevant enterprises in accordance with the law to prevent and control food safety risks. At the same time, 51 batches suspected of crime have been transferred to the public security authorities for processing, and criminal responsibilities will be pursued in accordance with the law. Currently, 6 individuals involved have been sentenced to imprisonment, and other cases are still under investigation. The General Administration of Market Supervision has launched focused supervision on areas where non-edible substance issues were found in 2024, urging for special rectification, investigating the causes of the problems, and eliminating safety risks.
