Researcher Yang Peng of the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention stated at a press conference held by the National Health Commission on June 20 that since reaching a relatively high point at the end of May, the national COVID-19 epidemic has been decreasing for three consecutive weeks and has entered a stable downward trend. Other respiratory infectious diseases such as influenza are also at a low level of prevalence. In Beijing, the activity of the COVID-19 virus has been gradually declining since early May, with overall intensity lower than previous levels. Yang Peng mentioned that the severity of clinical diseases caused by this wave of the COVID-19 epidemic has not shown any significant changes, and the overall number of fever clinic visits has remained stable, without causing any obvious impact on medical resources and the order of production and daily life.
