Falling oil futures prices, Trump hinted at leaving time for negotiations with Iran.
Global oil prices softened, and the decline in stock index futures narrowed. Previously, US President Trump hinted that he would give some time for negotiations before making a decision on whether to strike Iran. On Thursday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that Trump would make a decision within two weeks, a timeframe he often mentions when faced with difficult situations, alleviating concerns of imminent military intervention. As the conflict enters its second week, Israel and Iran continue to exchange fire. Some European foreign ministers are scheduled to meet with Iranian officials in Geneva on Friday to urge them to ease tensions and to urge them to commit to restraining Tehran's nuclear activities. International oil benchmark Brent crude prices fell 2% on Friday, reversing Thursday's gains.
