The South African government has declared a state of disaster nationwide to respond to the continued impact of extreme weather events since June 9. Blizzard, strong winds, and heavy rain have caused serious damage in several provinces including Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, resulting in at least 92 deaths and thousands of people being displaced.
