In May, the overall consumer market showed a stable development trend. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, the total retail sales of social consumer goods in that month reached 4.13 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.4% year-on-year, with the growth rate accelerating by 1.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, the fastest monthly growth rate since 2024. From January to May, the total retail sales of social consumer goods reached 20.32 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.0% year-on-year; the retail sales of services increased by 5.2% year-on-year, with the growth rate accelerating by 0.1 percentage points compared to the period from January to April.
