According to incomplete statistics in the industry, from January to May this year, a total of 68.4GW of approved wind power projects were added in 25 provinces and cities in China, an increase of 72% year-on-year. At the beginning of the year, some institutions predicted that the newly added wind power installed capacity in China would reach 105GW to 115GW this year, with a growth rate of around 40% compared to 2024. Along with the significant increase in scale, the low-price competition that has been plaguing the industry in recent years has also shown significant improvement. In order to address the issue of "vicious competition at low prices" in the wind power industry, at the Beijing International Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition in October 2024, 12 wind turbine manufacturers pledged to abide by the rules and jointly signed the "China Wind Power Industry Market Fair Competition Environment Self-Discipline Convention." This has become a key turning point in the reversal of wind power prices. Domestic wind power manufacturers are about to enter a period of harvest in the "two-sea" market. Interviewees believe that China can help other countries develop wind power more efficiently and economically with its advantages in wind power technology, cost, and experience; at the same time, due to less installed capacity last year, the growth in offshore wind installation this year will also be relatively high.
