Audi global CEO Gernot Dllner confirmed in an interview on June 18 that the plan previously formulated by the former management has been overturned. Audi has withdrawn the plan to stop developing and selling internal combustion engine cars by 2033, and there is no longer a specific timeline set. "Audi will launch a new series of internal combustion engine and plug-in hybrid cars between 2024 and 2026, which will provide us with greater flexibility in the next ten years. Then we will see how the market develops," said Dllner. Dllner also revealed that Audi will lead the development of platform architecture and software systems for large car models within the Volkswagen Group, covering all models starting from the A5 level. This work, including the next generation SSP platform, marks the Volkswagen Group's first full-scale move towards "software-defined cars". The project, in collaboration with Rivian, will see the first Audi models equipped with the SSP platform expected to be launched at the end of 2027 or in 2028. (Yicai News)
