Maoming, Guangdong issued the first red flood warning of this year.
On the evening of June 17th, due to the continuous rainfall, the water level of the Meihua River continued to rise. The Maoming Hydrological Bureau issued a red flood warning for the Meihua River at 0:00 on June 18th. At 3:55 on June 18th, the Xinha station in Xidong Village, Xiadong Town, Dianbai District, Maoming, recorded a flood peak water level of 24.21 meters, exceeding the warning level by 1.31 meters. The water level has now receded below the warning line. Based on the current trends of water and rainfall, water experts predict that the Meihua station in Lizhi Che Village, Meihua Town, Maonan District, Maoming, will experience a flood peak water level of around 9.6 meters, exceeding the warning level by 1.6 meters, around 12:00 on June 18th and is expected to recede below the warning line by 2:00 on June 19th. Similarly, the Mingli station in Mingli Village, Lanshi Town, Wuchuan City, Zhanjiang, is expected to experience a flood peak water level of around 8.0 meters, exceeding the warning level by 1.5 meters, around 13:00 on June 18th and is expected to recede below the warning line by 4:00 on June 19th. The public is advised to take precautions.
