According to Politico, French President Macron stated on Tuesday his opposition to violent overthrow of the Iranian government, warning that it could lead to instability in the entire Middle East region. Macron, on the last day of the G7 summit in Canada, told reporters, "The biggest mistake today would be to resort to a military option. Going to war with Iran after the deal would be a grave mistake because it would only drive us back into the shadows and the results will be even worse in terms of nuclear proliferation, regional empowerment of Iran, or terrorism." He warned, "No one knows what could happen. We do not want to repeat the mistakes of the past. Everyone agrees that Iran cannot be allowed to build a nuclear bomb." Macron mentioned that the regime change actions in Iraq and Libya forcibly carried out by the United States and NATO allies were past mistakes that should not be repeated, as they resulted in subsequent deadly political instability.
