The S&P 500 index closed up 0.9% preliminary. Telecommunications, technology, consumer discretionary, and financial sectors all rose more than 1%, while the energy sector fell 0.2%. The Nasdaq 100 index closed up 1.4% preliminary, with constituent stocks AMD, Warner Bros. Discovery, ON Semiconductor, Marvell Technology, Arm Holdings, Lamb Research, Microchip Technology, and nuclear concept stock CEG leading with gains of 8.7% to 3.7%. Diamondback Energy fell 2.4%, and Charter Communications fell 3.7%. Nike, Goldman Sachs, American Express, and Cisco all rose more than 2%, leading the Dow Jones constituent stocks. UnitedHealth, Johnson & Johnson, Verizon, and McDonald's all fell more than 1%, performing at the bottom. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index rose 2.8%, the bank index rose 1.3%, and the Russell 2000 index rose 0.9%. The US tech stock seven giants index rose 1.3%, while the "Trump Tariff Losers Index" rose 2.5%.
