On June 15th, reporters learned from the Beijing Municipal Transportation Commission, the People's Bank of China Beijing Branch, and the Beijing Municipal Financial Office that in order to further optimize the convenience of urban rail payment services in Beijing, improve the quality of inbound tourism services, and help Beijing become an international consumption center city by 2025, starting from June 15th, Beijing urban rail will add support for JCB cards issued overseas and American Express cards issued domestically and abroad, allowing for contactless card swiping for entry and exit as well as ticket purchasing and reloading functions. This is another major upgrade in the field of transportation in Beijing for the convenience of domestic and foreign passengers, following the support for MasterCard and Visa cards in September 2024. With this, Beijing's urban rail system has become the world's first urban rail transit system with full coverage of payment services from five major card organizations: China UnionPay, MasterCard, Visa, JCB, and American Express.
