Despite facing declining sales in the US and European markets, Tesla has experienced a long-awaited resurgence in Australia. The American electric car manufacturer announced on Tuesday that sales in Australia soared to 3,897 units in May, reaching a new high in nearly 12 months, thanks mainly to the record sales performance of the redesigned Model Y compact SUV. Data shows that Model Y sales in Australia surged by 122.5% year-on-year, while Model 3 sales plummeted significantly. Although the total delivery volume increased by only 9.3% year-on-year, it skyrocketed by 675% compared to the low point of 500 units in April. The Australian Electric Vehicle Council revealed that April was the worst month for Tesla's performance in Australia this year, and although May saw a strong rebound, total sales from the beginning of the year to now have still decreased by 48.2% year-on-year.
