With the hot weather pushing electricity demand to historic highs, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered government departments at all levels to ensure that residents and businesses are not affected by power outages. According to a statement released on the Vietnamese government website, the northern and central regions of Vietnam have been experiencing prolonged high temperatures, leading to a peak electricity demand of nearly 52 gigawatts on June 2, setting a new record. Data shows that on June 4, the national average temperature in Vietnam exceeded 30 degrees Celsius, approximately 8% higher than the average level for the same period in the past 30 years. The statement emphasizes that Pham Minh Chinh has instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other relevant departments to prevent any power shortages "under any circumstances." He has directed the expedited commissioning of new power plants and grid connections to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system during peak demand periods.
