Raphael Bostic, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, stated that he is not in a hurry to adjust interest rates, and added that although recent price data is encouraging, he still hopes to see "more" progress in terms of inflation. "We still have a long way to go in terms of the progress we need to see," Bostic said in a call with reporters on Tuesday, "I have not yet declared victory on the inflation issue." Bostic also released his latest article on the economy on Tuesday. In the article, he reiterated his position that it is not necessary to adjust interest rates until he further understands how tariffs and other policies will be implemented and affect the overall economy. "I still believe that the best strategy for monetary policy is to remain patient," Bostic stated in the article published on Tuesday, "Given the overall strength of the economy, we have enough room to observe how intensifying uncertainty will impact employment and prices. Therefore, I am not in a hurry to adjust our policy stance."
