According to the Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, the total transaction volume of new and second-hand housing in Shanghai in May was 2.23 million square meters, an increase of 17% year-on-year. The transaction volume of new housing in Shanghai in May was 620,000 square meters, an increase of 24% year-on-year. The transaction volume of second-hand housing in May was 1.61 million square meters, an increase of 14% year-on-year, the highest value during the same period since 2022. From January to May this year, the market saw an increase in volume and stable prices. In terms of transaction volume, from January to May, the transaction volume of new housing was 2.66 million square meters, an increase of 9% year-on-year; the transaction volume of second-hand housing was 8.28 million square meters, an increase of 38% year-on-year; the total transaction volume of new and second-hand housing was 10.94 million square meters, an increase of 30% year-on-year. In terms of price index, the price index of new housing continued to rise month-on-month, with a cumulative increase of 2.0% from January to April; the price index of second-hand housing showed an overall rebound month-on-month, with a cumulative increase of 0.5% from January to April this year.
