In May, the manufacturing PMI increased by 0.5 percentage points month-on-month - overall output of the Chinese economy maintained expansion.
Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics Service Industry Survey Center and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing shows that in May, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for the manufacturing sector was 49.5%, up 0.5 percentage points from the previous month; the Business Activity Index for the non-manufacturing sector was 50.3%, down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month; and the comprehensive PMI output index was 50.4%, up 0.2 percentage points from the previous month. Overall, the output of China's economy continued to expand.
