The Ministry of Water Resources predicts that during this year's Dragon Boat Festival, the rainfall in the Pearl River Basin will be close to normal or slightly above normal, with the West River close to normal and the North River and Han River slightly above normal. The North River may experience significant flooding, while the West River and Han River may experience flood levels above warning levels, and small and medium-sized rivers in the rainstorm area may experience significant flooding. From late May to early June each year, before and after the Dragon Boat Festival, the influence of the storm outbreak in the South China Sea and the northward movement of the subtropical high pressure system often leads to sustained and widespread concentrated rainfall in the Pearl River Basin, easily triggering regional flooding. Relevant departments in the Pearl River Basin have already put in place defense measures to prevent flooding. At the Lubaowatergate in the North River Basin in Foshan, Guangdong, reporters observed that all four gates were opened to release water, and staff were monitoring the water level of the river at the watergate in real time.
