Chicago corn futures fell more than 6.7% in May, while Arabica coffee futures dropped more than 17.2%.
In May, the Bloomberg Commodity Index fell by 2.25%. At the close of trading on Friday in New York, it was at 30.7169 points. After dropping to 30.2534 points on May 13, it rebounded temporarily, spending half of the month in a low level oscillation. CBOT corn futures fell by 6.73% to $4.4350 per bushel. CBOT wheat futures rose by 0.42% to $5.3325 per bushel. CBOT soybean futures fell by 0.22% to $10.4225 per bushel, reaching $10.82 on May 14; soybean meal futures fell by 0.80%, and soybean oil futures fell by 2.07%. ICE raw sugar futures fell by 2.06%, ICE white sugar futures fell by 3.08%. ICE Arabica coffee futures fell by 17.26%, while coffee "C" futures fell by 14.61%. Robusta coffee futures fell by 16.09%. New York cocoa futures rose by 9.79% to $9757 per ton, hitting $11280 on May 20. London cocoa futures rose by 2.41%. ICE cotton futures fell by 1.41%.
